Moser Wedding
Thinking of this particular wedding still makes my mind reel...since this handsome young groom is my nephew! I could tell some stories...but I won't. :-) Chance and Stephanie live in Utah, and I was lucky enough to be allowed to snap a few shots as the photographer, as well as being present as a guest (and technically, one of the caterers, too! ;). I still have a hard time thinking of this guy as all grown up and married!

A Before and After!
Our family spent the day on the lake today with friends, and I came away with some really fun photos of my kids with their friends. Most of them are great snapshots and will stay as they are, but every once in awhile I catch a photo that just screams for a little "extra".
As I was working on this photo today of my youngest daughter and her good friend, I thought it might be fun to show you all a little of what goes into a photo from camera to computer, and finally to your final images!
I started by cleaning up their messy faces just a little. Then I brightened the image a touch and switched to black and white to show off their big, beautiful eyes! Finally, a slight sharpening and it was all done! What do you think? The whole process took about ten minutes to go from a cute snapshot to what I think is a great photo!
Did you enjoy seeing something of the behind the scenes process? I'm considering making it a regular feature to show you all a little of the work that takes place after your time in front of the camera. If you enjoyed it and want to see more, leave a comment and let me know!
Happy Saturday!

Crapo Family {Pocatello Family Photography}
Meet the Crapo family...does this pretty lady look familiar to any of you? She's the creative genius behind one of my favorite blogs, Running with Scissors! I was so excited to meet Jessica and family, and they definitely did not disappoint! These sweet little ones are so lucky to have her as a mom. She made most of the clothing and accessories they were sporting for this fun session, including her own skirt, blouse, and jewelry! Not sure about the cardigan. ;-) Oh, and don't forget Ellie's adorable dress!
One thing that impressed me about Jessica and Rhett was their ability to just roll with the punches. If you've ever had a professional family portrait session with young children, you KNOW it's exhausting, frustrating, and often disappointing. As a mom, I've been there, done that. As a photographer, it is really easy to let that frustration rub off, making the entire situation worse.
That's why it was so impressive to me when these guys were able to just relax, let the kids be wild and crazy, grumpy and shy, or whatever they were feeling at the moment. And while a lot of the photos we got were somewhat "candid", they are some of my favorites!

Price Family {Idaho Falls Family Photography}
As a photographer, the learning never ends. Not only is there an endless amount of information we can learn to improve our skills, but new technology comes out all the time. This session was really exciting for me, as it was the first session I decided to shoot in RAW format. If you're not a photographer, this means nothing to you. I'll just say that it really improves the final product, and makes for much more successful editing.
I'm in love with the results of this session, both because of the success of my new experiment, and because this is one of the funnest families I know! The Price family came ready to go, except for Gabe...he wasn't sure who he wanted to be that day. ;-) Those who know Gabe will understand the conflict. So, while he was working on that, Brinley and I had a great time getting the camera warmed up. I've decided that her sweet freckles just BEG for black and white. ;-)
Take a look at this happy, smiling family!
